2010Incheon
South Korea
This was an entry into the 2010 Incheon City Design Competition. We were awarded 5th place out of over 200 entries.
The goal was to revitalize a small fishing harbor in Incheon called Soreapo. This harbor also has a historic bridge that was built by the Japanese during their occupation of Korea in the 1930s. We took a traditional spherical “fish lamp” and modified the shape as to be optimal for collecting sunlight as well making the individual lamp cable of being a cell in a larger network to act as a single display. We also projected Korean cinema onto the pillars of the bridge. The beginning of Korean cinema coincided with the date of origin of the bridge and has a much more pleasant memory.
